La Grande Library
The city of La Grande received a Special Public Works Loan and matched it with their own money to purchase a facility and property for the city library.
Baker County is constructing a new facility to house Recovery Village, the area's alcohol and drug treatment program for men and women with children. In May 2008, Business Oregon awarded Baker County an $800,000 grant to construct a new alcohol and drug recovery facility that will expand the services to additional eligible clients. This facility serves women and men with children seeking treatment as a result of methamphetamine addiction, alcohol and other drug use. In treating these families, babies are born drug-free, families may be reunited, and parents may return as drug-free productive people reducing welfare and other associated costs.
A 2008 report by Ernst and Young on state business taxes pronounced Oregon's position as one of the lowest business tax rate structures in the United States.
